Puerto Rico’s capital, founded in 1508. In the Old City there are still traces of early Spanish influences but the central area is filled with typical new skyscrapers as it is the financial district nowadays. The harbour is dominated by huge cruise ships coming and going. With average temperatures of 28 all year round it is not surprising the city lives off tourism. January and February are street festival and carnival time. You will find gay bars and clubs in the San Juan district.
