"Kungsör has an interesting history and a beautiful situation. Many Swedish kings have used the locality as a retreat from their royal duties. King Gustav Vasa laid the foundations of a community by building a Royal Manor where the Arboga River enters Lake Mälaren. Both Charles XI and Charles XII hunted bear in the district. Nowadays it is possible to visit one of Sweden's finest cultural environments without the risk of meeting bears or their royal hunters."
