Santiago is the capital of Chile. It's a massive metropolitan area where Santiago Centro consists of the older parts of greater Santiago, including the city centre and big state buildings. There 's a mild mediterranean climate. Santiago is situated in the Santiago Basin in the Andes and there's not a lot of wind, which causes high levels of smog and pollution, especially in the winter. Most of the night life for the gay tourist is in the area of Barrio Bellavista. Night/club life kicks off very late, around 1.30 am, but instead it continues into the next day.
