Slovenia was the first of the former Yugoslavian countries to become a member of the EU and the first of the ”eastern European” countries to bring in the Euro as its currency. The country is the most thriving in the region and when it comes to LGBT issues Slovenia is the most liberal of the former Yugoslavian countries.
During the 600th and 700th century the Slovenians settled in the area, and squeezed in between super powers, they have since fought for their independence.
