12:00–12:45 Gender is not consent
Can be seen via stream
Our understanding of sexuality should not be limited to an idea of genders or “biological sexes”.

More and more people agree that each of us have the rights to our own bodies, and that consent is therefore what makes a sexual act right or wrong. However, this has not always been the case. Each person's body used to be considered the property of the church, government and family. As people were breaking free from this oppression, they based much of their rebellion on ideas of gender. As liberating as this may have been a century ago, it also held a lot of potential to oppress persons of all genders and of all sexualities: The secularized heteronormativity which replaced old theocratic normativity marginalized trans people, cis women and non-conforming cis men as well as homosexuals and all everyone who's sexuality is based on other factors than gender. To move beyond this dead-end structure, we should abolish all three layers of heteronormativity: Get rid of the notion that everyone must have a binary gender, as well as the notion that each person's sexuality must be based on gender or a division of “biological sex” - we must not be content to remove only the top layer, the sacralization of heterosexuality and demonization of homosexuality in a false dichotomy between vanilla cisgendered heterosexuality and either everything else in general or vanilla cisgendered homosexuality in particular. Through breaking this false dichotomy, we also break the false assumptions of what a “real man” or “real woman” is expected to do or consent to.

13:00–13:45 Outlawing homosexuals, sadomasochists and poor people in the name of family resilience?
A dialogue about a law which sought to criminalize sexual minorities.

What make politicians try to pass homophobic and kinkophobic laws, and what makes these politicians back off? A case which may be interesting as well as amusing is the “family resilience bill” which in 2020 failed miserably in the parliament of Indonesia. One core feature of this proposed law was to outlaw not only homosexual and sadomasochistic acts, but also homosexual and sadomasochistic feelings: making all gay and kinky people obliged by law to confess and to seek out (pseudoscientific) conversion therapy in order to become vanilla heterosexuals. Another core feature was to demand that each family must have gender-segregated separate rooms for the children – not in the form of offering any help with better housing, but instead punishing parents for not being rich enough to afford a big house. Beside this case, we'll also discuss the new anti-LGBTQ law in Hungary, the infamous “Bathroom bills” against trans people in the USA as well as some failed attempts to outlaw BDSM in Sweden.

14:00 - 14:45 Building global resilience in the face of crisis
Sent via link from an other location
Covid-19 pandemic has disproportionately affected LGBTQI communities around the globe. Lack of resources, repressive cultural and political environments made it difficult to provide a proper response, but LGBTQI organizations, initiative groups and collectives together with like-minded international partners, showed immense flexibility in finding ways of supporting those in need. What did we learn from this crisis? How do we build up robust protection systems and resilience going forward and what role does global solidarity play in this?
