In October 2010 we present a collaboration between Skånes Dansteater and the chamber orchestra Musica Vitae from Växjö. The premiere will take place on 9 October, at Palladium in Malmö in connection with the festival Music and Art Around.
It will be a unique meeting between five dancers and seventeen musicians presenting four orchestral works from three different centuries. Sibelius’ Rakastava op 14 and Frank Bridge's Four Pieces for String Orchestra will be presented in concert form by Musica Vitae while Skånes Dansteater will be dancing two pieces, Karin Rehnqvist Taromir’s Tid and Qigang Chen's L'Eloignement.
The choreography will be created by the British choreographer Ben Wright. He has made numerous choreographies for contemporary dance, dramatic theater and opera. He was previously responsible for the choreography for several shows at the Malmo Opera: Macbeth, Dead Man Walking, Faust, La Fanciulla del West and Pariserliv.
The festival Music and Art Around was established in 2002 by Musik i Syd and has developed to one of Scandinavia's most comprehensive and interesting festivals.
