09:30 - 10:45 Pinkwashing: Corporate participation in LGBTQIA+ movements
This panel talk addresses the subject of pinkwashing and what it means in a broader international context. In what ways will it be possible to put pressure on companies and states across borders to make them live up to promises of solidarity and not just wave the rainbow flag as an empty gesture? Representatives from Pride organisations, LGBTQIA+ organisations, researchers, and public/corporate sectors will share their views and discuss both pinkwashing and on how to support public/private sectors to create genuine contributions towards LGBTQIA+ movements and populations.

11 - 12 Improving Queer Representation in Games

11 - 12 Towards a Queer Decolonial Approach to the War in Syria
This lecture will look into different mobilizations of queerness during the public uprisings in Syria and the war that followed. By drawing on several case studies
and ethnographic fieldwork in Lebanon between 2018 and 2019 with 20 self-identified Syrian and Palestinian LGBTQIA+ students, migrant workers, artists, and activists, this lecture will present and explore the sexuality politics in Syria in the context of the ‘war on terror.’
Biography: Razan Ghazzawi (they/she) is a Syrian Palestinian queer femme non-binary, doctoral researcher at the University of Sussex. Their research looks at the
intersection of sexuality politics, protest, queer of color critique, and the war in Syria. They are a former political prisoner of the Assad regime and were exiled by ISIS and
Al Qaeda groups in Idleib. They are the winner of the Frontline Defenders’ award in 2012 and received ISA’s LGBTQIA+ Caucus’s Emergent Scholar award in 2022.

15 - 15:45 Trans* Health in Ukraine: Do we need a European dream?
Today’s Ukraine is torn apart by Russian military aggression, but even in this situation, transpeople need healthcare. Many of us lost our homes, and many of us lost access to Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) in war-torn Ukraine. We had to move to other European countries to survive and still be able to continue the transition. Arriving here, we have been amazed to see that the Ukrainian transition protocol is much simpler than many European ones.

16 - 17 How do international media portray the war in Ukraine? The queer perspective
In the current post-truth era emotions are more important than the facts, and media coverage of the Russian-Ukrainian war shows it clearly. People want to see victims,
divide everything into black and white, or desperately look for “good Russians” or “Ukrainian Nazis”. Russian propaganda continues to spread throughout Europe, and sometimes it is really hard to both fact-check and distinguish the truth.
The narratives surrounding LGBTQIA+ Ukrainians and their stories get even more conflicted. During this session we will explore how international media-channels fail when covering the Ukrainian war, and what steps media consumers can take to think critically.
