The 15th of october 1937 workers had uncovered part of a silver treasure which would later reveal itself to be the largest ever found in Sweden. The discovery amounted to 18,000 silver coins in all, along with items of silver plate, that had been buried sometime during the 18th century. The house in which the treasure was found is now the Victory Hotel, at Lilla Nygatan 5 in Stockholm’s Old Town. The Lohe treasure, valued at more than 100 million krona, can be viewed at the Coin Museum, just a short distance away.
